1. Do you Bug Out or Bug In?
I think that is one of the biggest questions a lot of preppers ask themselves but above and beyond that question comes to my mind of WHEN do you bug out vs bug in?
I think this is a question each and every person has to truly ask themselves and evaluate why they would actually leave their home. Many of us build a large amount of preps that it is just not feasible to take with you if you have to leave.
To me my first intent is to hold up in my place. I prep to be self sustaining. I prep to easily fortify my home. I prep to survive at home. Solar power, rain collection, food storage, weapons storage, preppers network, communication, etc are all part of preparing and most of us spend so much time at home doing this.
So now why leave? I can think of a multitude of reasons. Natural disaster that damages your home beyond safe habitation. That ultimately is why we leave. Fire, flood, earth quake, tornado, hurricane and more are all common reasons that people flee their homes each and every year.
Many people focus on the additional reason no matter how far fetched they may be but if it is something that you actually fear then prepare for it and calm your mind.
This ultimately is why we prepare. To be calm, collected, and ready to take action whether it’s loading up in your bug out vehicle and getting out of dodge in the mere matter of minutes or it’s hunkering down and staying put in your home.
So what is your plan?
